Runnymede Healthcare Centre has once again earned the highest possible ranking from Accreditation Canada.
“For any hospital to meet all of Accreditation Canada’s standards in back-to-back surveys is almost unheard of, but Runnymede’s most recent accreditation with exemplary standing is a shining example of how our culture of excellence and quality improvement makes it possible to achieve the extraordinary,” says Connie Dejak, Runnymede president and CEO.
Runnymede, a 206-bed rehabilitation and complex continuing care hospital in the west end of Toronto, was awarded a four-year accreditation with exemplary standing. In its November 2018 survey, Runnymede met all 611 of the quality and safety standards measured by Accreditation Canada, the independent, not-for-profit organization that sets the standard in quality and safety for Canadian health-care providers.
It marks the second time in a row the hospital has had zero unmet standards in an accreditation survey, placing it among an elite group to consecutively repeat such an achievement. Runnymede voluntarily undergoes the accreditation process every four years to help evaluate the quality and safety of its patient-centred care and identify areas for improvement.
The comprehensive, three-day survey measured Runnymede against quality criteria that included patient safety; anticipating and meeting community health-care needs; timely and equitable access to health-care services; efficient use of resources; and healthy environment for hospital staff.
