The use of an inclusionary zoning policy creates inclusive communities by providing affordable housing that keeps pace with the growth of new market housing, resulting in neighbourhoods that offer housing options for a range of incomes and households across the city. Inclusionary zoning, one policy solution to help address Toronto’s housing needs, is geared to low- and moderate-income households earning roughly between $35,000 and $88,500 a year, depending on household size.
The draft policy will be presented and public input will be elicited on the direction the city is taking to make sure the policy is equitable, predictable and flexible, meeting all Torontonians’ needs.
The consultations are scheduled as follows: June 17 at Metro Hall (Rotunda), June 18 at Etobicoke Civic Centre (Meeting rooms 1/2/3), June 19 at Scarborough Civic Centre (Rotunda) and June 24 at North York Civic Centre (Committee room 3).
The meetings, each running from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., give people an opportunity to learn more about inclusionary zoning, as well as to share ideas on how this new affordable housing policy tool should apply in Toronto.
