The Toronto Police Service officially welcomed more than two dozen new officers last week Thursday at a graduation ceremony at the police college.

Mayor John Tory and police chief Mark Saunders were some of the dignitaries on hand to witness the special event.

Toronto’s diversity is well-represented among the new recruits, with 22 per cent of the police officers being a visible minority and speaking another language beside English including Arabic, Hindi and Japanese. Notably of the new graduates 29 per cent are women.
