You can say Mac tonight when it comes to the latest signing by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The National Hockey League club announced March 7 they have agreed to terms with Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds defenceman Mac Hollowell on an entry-level contract.
Selected by the Maple Leafs in the fourth-round (118 overall) of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, the 20-year-old currently leads all Ontario Hockey League defenceman in goals (23) and points (72) in 59 games this season with the Greyhounds.
A native of Niagara Falls, ON., the five-foot-10, 163-pound overage defenceman is in his fourth season with the Soo and has racked up 41 goals and 137 assists for 178 points in 254 games.
“Extremely honoured and excited to announce that I have signed my first NHL contract with the @mapleleafs,” Hollowell said in a message on Instagram. “I would like to thank my family, friends, teammates and coaches for everything they have done for me along the way.”
The 20-year-old, who also has collected three goals and 20 assists in 47 career playoff games, was named an assistant captain of the Greyhounds this season.
