A Toronto man faces nine charges of break and enter after police seized more than $100,000 in property believed to have been stolen from homes in Markham, Richmond Hill, Vaughan and Toronto.
York Regional Police launched an investigation on Oct. 18 after a break and enter at a Clark Avenue home in Markham. The homeowner reported leaving their residence at 7:30 that morning and upon their return at 2:25 p.m., discovered someone had broken into their house and made off with jewellery and other items.
As police were investigating that incident, a neighbour reported also being a victim of a break in. Police discovered the suspect had pried open windows to both houses. As the investigation continued, police noticed similarities with break and enters between July 3 and Jan. 2.
Georgii Gagnidze, 29, was arrested on Jan. 22. He was held in custody and was scheduled to appear in Ontario court the following day. Police are working to reunite the recovered property with the rightful owners.
