Arrest made in human trafficking investigation

Police are appealing to additional victims after a 31-year-old Toronto man was charged with human trafficking.

York Regional Police began investigating the suspect in January after learning about a potential victim who had been forced to work in the sex trade.

On August 11, Sam Park was arrested and charged with trafficking in persons, material benefit from trafficking in persons, three counts of material benefit from sexual services, three counts of advertising sexual services and two counts of procuring.

“In many cases, victims are forced into the sex trade through violence, threats of violence, coercion and trickery,” YRP says. “Investigators are willing to speak with anyone involved in the sex trade who may be looking for a way out or who may require assistance to escape these dangerous circumstances.”
